[ the engine rumbles; once nahida is settled, he gets his hand on the throttle and moves it out to the track, starting off at a nice, sedate pace. ]
[she climbs up, then, and settles herself in front of him on the bike. this feels unsafe from the very little i know about motorcycle safety but you know what, if nahida dies here off schedule i am perfectly okay with that.

he is definitely controlling the speed of the cycle pretty well, but after a few moments -]
fei du does really seem to know what he's doing: he drives smoothly, letting a few other bikers pass him, making sure nahida is n ice and secure. and then, at the request, he makes a noise just loud enough to be heard over the engine, and pushes the throttle more.

the bike starts to pick up speed down a straight thoroughfare. it's not quite street racing speeds, but they're definitely moving, now. ]
nahida's eyes are wide and excited as they zip along the track. they're picking up speed, and she seems absolutely delighted by that. glancing at some of the cycles ahead of them - ]
