[ forces us to go to ikea.
that is to say, it's saturday and jonas has had a little time to ruminate on things. it means he's back out on the streets and roaming around, hoping to get some answers he didn't get yesterday and trying to learn more about the people around him.
ikea seems like a good place to run into people, and he's here again once again carrying his emotional support shark that he can't take out of the store. he's casually walking through, but he backtracks a few steps when he notices someone a few feet away. ]

[ yes we can because it's actually not bad and it's cheap. anyway, she's enjoying her cake and he's wandering over to join her, pulling up a chair to sit across from her. ]

I was hoping maybe I'd be able to exit one of the subway stations today, but... I still can't get up the stairs. So I came back here for a snack while I think about my next move.

Right. I think maybe... we'll be able to visit more places after we form teams.
The rules do say only those on teams get housing, and I haven't seen anything that would fit that description in the areas we can access so far.

A few people I've talked to have the same idea. It's the only thing that makes sense, otherwise making a team wouldn't be an objective to the game. If I had to guess, our housing is in another district that we aren't permitted to go to yet. For whatever reason. Maybe there's a blocker on our phone that's locking us out or something.
We'll find the answer to that out quickly enough.

Uh...probably? I'm not sure how it all works or anything but if there's some sort of frequency we aren't able to tune into with our phones that could be it. Add our phones to a different network, gain access to different districts.

A few people I've talked to are wondering the same thing. It's hard to pick teammates when we don't know what we're up again. If we make a bad pick and get assigned tasks that we can't complete, that's setting us up to lose.

[that is exactly it honestly. nahida's metric for potential teammates right now is "how likely are they to prevent someone else from taking advantage of kaveh?"]
Right... a balanced team of some kind would probably be the wisest strategy, but without knowing what sort of tasks we're supposed to be doing, we can't know what kind of balance we need to strike.

Right...it's probably better to focus on personalities you can work with than skills people have. If you're all in agreement on stuff, you can probably pick up skills and make up for each other's shortcomings, don't you think? It's harder if you're arguing the whole time.

Yes. Since this is a decision that can't be changed once we make it, it's important to consider all of our possibilities carefully.

Alex has a tendency to like everybody and think the best of everybody. She thinks everyone we've met so far has been interesting and wants the best outcome.

At minimum it has to be someone we can both work with. We were thinking of maybe someone close to our age, but it's not like a requirement or anything. Someone smart who can look at the tasks and the game and help us come up with plans to earn points. Somebody motivated to play that won't be a, uh, liability, I guess?

Surprised me a little, too. You'd think being dead would be a pretty good motivator but I guess its not enough for some people. Which is kind of annoying since at least three people are going to have to inevitably rely on them.

Perhaps anyone who doesn't wish to do something about it should form a team with each other, though that would be a problem if there were more or less than four of them... or some increment of four.
