In Teyvat, there's something that we refer to as "Forbidden Knowledge" - knowledge that doesn't naturally exist in this world, and shouldn't. Where it takes root, it corrupts everything around it. It was the source of many terrible diseases and drove many people mad. It took root in the desert region, and... I couldn't just turn a blind eye to it.
My power was enough to keep it at bay, but not to eradicate it entirely... it had corrupted Irminsul, too. I was able to deal with that more recently, though.
