[ when Nahida is ready, the area flickers before it loads into this. it's a rather large open space, the ceiling above being a domed shape that can be seen through it at the stars and space around. there's a beam that shoots straight through the middle in a steadying soft glow. ]
This is the Viewing Lounge. Virtual projection equipment can also be used to view a wide array of landscapes, just like the system we're using here. We're on the top deck of the interstellar cruise, so it's a bit small given there's only this area and the Main Control room on this level.
nahida looks around the room when their surroundings load up around them. the beam of light in the middle is intriguing - that must be how it makes the projection, she thinks?
but looking up, the stars are visible through the glass ceiling. her eyes go wide.]
[ nahida would likely be on the right track with those thoughts.
setsu merely watches, with all the requests they've gotten- it's more interesting to see how the others react. the stars do twinkle and gleam in the distance. the room emitting a soft hum from the beam of light. ]
It isn't a bad place to spend time in between discussions on the ship.
Admittedly, I don't frequent here a lot compared to some. So I haven't interacted with a lot of the landscapes. But, I do know someone that would interact with a field of flowers here. Making flower crowns.
[ sometimes when stuck in space, nature is nice to perceive. ]
..Ah, that's... a bit complicated. [ they're thinking it over, considering what to say before they settle on it ] Back on the interstellar cruise, I've been stuck in a time loop of sorts. It's a bit hard to gauge a proper timeframe.
I do know the cause. [ their gaze stays focused on looking out. ] It's due to a living organism that has affixed itself to me. While activated, it travels through parallel universes, rewinding time and imprisoning me inside loops.
There is a way to break out technically. Which it requires meeting its criteria for consuming information. [ but, despite them saying all of this, they don't seem too bothered by it. they're still quite content with this matter of fact. ] It's nothing worth worrying too heavily about though. I've gotten used to my fate being what it is.
Essentially, yes. [ and that would be because it's a parasite but. vash said to be careful using that word so. alas. ]
...Survival? A need? I'm not too sure, honestly. Only once it's satisfied does it release its hold on its current host, coming to a decision to move onto a new universe to collect more information.
...A bit but, after hundreds of loops, you do start to get used to it.
[ they say but, anytime they talk about it, the exhaustion is as clear as day. but they don't seem terribly upset by their fate. ..happy, even? ]
Whatever ends up happening once I return, it'll be alright. [ a hand raises to gently touch the black eyepatch over their eye before they shake their head, focusing on the room. ] Would you be interested in seeing more?
[ though it's some reassurance, it's not a complete closure on the topic. they aren't necessarily pushing her away from asking more if she wants to. it isn't a lot but.. there's some trust there.
they nod, leading them out the nearest and only door to enter another room. it isn't nearly as spacious as the viewing lounge but it is large for all things considered. right away, you can see the cockpit in the front, and a huge console in the back of the room. the table in the middle is lit up with nearby planets and stars. zetsu will not allow you to read the text for all of them because god if i know what the exact space layout is in gnosia.
except, the nearest planet on the map does mention the name "Liu-An." and i'll say one of the very farthest planets can be read as "Earth." ] This is the main control room. It's where everyone usually comes to for our discussions and any necessary meetings. It's one of the rooms I tend to visit during downtime as well.
[nahida follows them into the room with wide, curious eyes, taking it all in. it's not entirely dissimilar to the inside of the giant ruin golems - very broadly speaking, anyway. the cockpit feels a little familiar, at least in terms of the way the controls are set up.
but she looks at the map with the most interest, because it's new to her.]
What sorts of discussions and meetings did you normally have here...?
[ Setsu will stand by the center table, mostly to allow her the room and space to explore around the room as much as she pleases. ]
It was always about Gnosia. It's who we call that have been infected by the Gnos. Gnosia enacts their carrier's will to destroy humanity as their only purpose.
It's.. a bit similar to our situation here. Not completely, but. Each day they're capable of erasing someone on board until we can figure out who is infected.
I'm just accustomed to it. I know what to expect so, going into the next loop... I'm already prepared for it. Some of the conditions are different, and people as well as roles are swapped around... but it always generally goes the same way.
Whatever happens.. once the loop ends, a new one starts.
[ it really is god fcken awful but Setsu still manages to be able to face the next day ready and prepared. no matter how much this burdens them. ]
So beacuse you know that "tomorrow" will come, even if that "tomorrow" is more akin to a "yesterday" or a "right now," you cankeep going...?
[one ends, one begins.
it sounds like an exhausting way to live. but there has to be an end in sight, doesn't it...? once the thing that's attached itself to them has had its fill of information...]
Something like that. And, I know that once I fill in the conditions, I can escape the loops. But before I do that, I have someone else to help first.
[ so the combination of... filling information for the sake of helping someone. it helps keep them moving. even if it's completely exhausting, they just can't give up. they refuse to let themselves give up. ]
A friend, my partner. They were also entrapped in time loops like me. Though, our loops were never in sync, what could be their third loop could very much be my one hundred and sixth one. I had to get them free of their loops.
[ it is someone very dear and important to them. for their sake, they were willing to do anything. ]
