I don't know for sure if that's what caused them. It could be that it was because of their Team Psych, and Rin used it to give everyone some sort of clue. But we don't know that it wasn't, either... just that there are consequences if it's shared, according to the rulebook.
I could believe that a consequence of "going against the spirit of the trial" would be something that could take you out of the game, if people made the connection. Since a vote for your team when you're the culprit would mean you would be erased.
[...she nods.]
There's probably a reason why we feel as though we shouldn't share what ours done, aside form general caution. I would imagine the other teams feel the same way, so... I don't expect anyone to volunteer what theirs does.
...of course... ideally, no one will come after any of us, and this will just be a hypothetical scenario. But I've been thinking a lot, about what I might do if I did end up having to defend myself, and about what would be most fair.
I don't like the idea of surviving at someone else's expense, but...
The consequence is probably the risk, right? You tell everyone and you put a target on your back immediately. If there's only one body, then you're out.
[ ... ] But maybe they have their own failsafes. Making sure it's harder to band together and keep things entirely secret. It probably makes it more interesting.
[ he nods. ]
If someone tries to kill you, don't you dare just lie down and let it happen. Then it's just about mitigating the chance for revenge.
[your teammates would have a vested interest in keeping your secret, generally speaking... unless they had morals. nahida can't really blame anyone for wanting to make the truth clear, even at their own detriment, but losing your chance at life seems like a really big detriment.]
I wouldn't just let someone kill me. But I would feel very guilty... if there was no other culprit, and someone who had not done anything wrong was erased if I got away with it.
[ the grey area between wanting to live, and wanting to uphold your morals. ]
That’s pretty natural. If it comes to that though, you can only vote how you want to. If the rest of us don’t get it right, then that’s on us. Best we can do after that is make whatever happens quick, whether the vote was correct or not.

...in the best-case scenario, though, it won't come to that.
