Hehe. They developed a type of symbiosis with mushrooms in the forests to provide them with camoflauge from predators.
...um, animal predators, anyway. Humans who go hunting like Shroomboars a lot because you get both meat for a steak and mushrooms for a side dish at once when you catch one...
Still, kinda sad for them really. You go through all that evolution just to end up down the food chain anyway. [ says i, the most prolific of shroomboar killers ]
It might take a while to isolate the cause, though... especially if it's a gradual sort of change. Not every Shroomboar would have the bad kind of mushroom on it, so if there were some that were fine to eat, and others that weren't, people might assume they died of other causes...
[a beat.]
This thought exercise is getting a little macabre.
[ she may have a hand because she is a 500 year old baby. ]
The kind of stuff I’m used to isn’t the sort of thing I’d expect to see in a museum, ‘cause it’s current technology. But it should stand out.
[ me thinking about ps1s in museums and shaking. but, yes, they’ll turn a corner and there’s just a whole ass outdoor carnival type thing with a giant ferris wheel in the background. but stuck behind plexiglass so they cannot touch it.

So they made themselves safer from some predators, and a prime target for others. Clever.

[alas, poor shroomboars...]

Like... becoming symbiotic with mushrooms that aren't safe for people to eat, so they'll leave them alone.
no subject
That would be pretty clever actually. And a little sinister, people wouldn't realise for a while.
no subject
I wonder how long it would take people to realize that was the cause if it happened...
no subject
The more people die after eating them, I think.

I'll probably know it when I see it.

Huh.

What is that...? It looks sort of like a waterwheel...
no subject
It’s a ferris wheel. You see the gondolas attached around it? You’d sit in those, and do a loop of the wheel.

Shame this is in the way.

It's probably not operational, if it's just on display...

I wouldn’t put it past this place to just have one somewhere. In one of the places we haven’t been to yet. They have an entire tower, after all.

It’s quiet. I don’t mind them.
Especially compared to the places they’re usually found.

It looks very... colorful?
