[ he's. trying to picture it now but he doesn't even know what an aranara is supposed to look like in the first place. maybe they are just mini nahidas? ]
a few minutes later, he receives a text message on his phone from onepx - it contains a picture of a pen drawing on a napkin, depicting kazuki playing his guitar with three aranara around him, each of them playing the lyre]
[ the disembodied voice thing still creeps him out a little, but he pulls up the picture and can't help a vaguely embarrassed smile. nahida really didn't have to draw him, too!! ]
...Okay, you're right. They are kind of cute. And somehow they're exactly what you'd expect forest spirits to look like.
The more you tell me about them, the more I wonder if there's something similar where I'm from. Figurines and stuff from folklore are still pretty popular there, too - like, teru teru bozu are supposed to make it sunny, if you hang them upright?
There might be! There are a lot of very interesting things like that in the world. I've never heard of teru teru bozu before, though. [she looks fascinated] Have you tried it yourself? Does it work?
They're just these little dolls made of cloth that you hang outside of windows. Since you guys are in Shibuya, you might be able to find some out there somewhere.
But uh... Maybe a couple of times when we were kids? It's hard to say whether it actually works, though.
I wonder if they have a similar tradition in Inazuma? ...hehe, if it's possible, it'd be nice to take you to visit Inazuma someday. We could compare the things there that are similar to your world.
Let me know if you see them? I'm kind of curious now.
That could be fun, though. And Jonas and I were talking about how it'd be nice to be able to visit each other's worlds later - not just between our team, but for everyone. It'd just be too weird going home never being able to see you guys again, you know?
We could make a whole field trip out of it, if it works out.
[and then they'll all die and fall out of contact with each other so she will not, actually. but they had high hopes.]
I'd like that a lot. I don't want to say goodbye to any of you permanently. If it works out that way, please come visit! ...and if it doesn't... well, people from other worlds have found their way to Teyvat before. I'll have to compare notes with them, but with enough time I should be able to figure something out.
I am an archon, after all.
[aka: anything is possible in a psl no matter how endgame goes]
Mm... not the most common. But, one of my close friends came from another world. They're journeying through Teyvat right now and were planning to set out for Fontaine soon, but if we get back in time, maybe I'll be able to catch them before they leave.
[...]
But even if it's uncommon, I know it's possible. That alone gives me hope I'll be able to figure it out.
Well... it records everything that belongs to Teyvat. There are no records in Irminsul of the Traveler, because they're not of my world. But that also means that changes to Irminsul don't affect them, which can be beneficial in its own way...
[she smiles]
Hehe, don't worry. I won't keep you waiting long.
[her sense of time is kinda skewed though imagine she shows up when kazuki is like 80 years old because that doesn't feel like a long time to her]
Oh. I thought it was like... if it happened in Teyvat, the Irminsul would know, no matter what. Does that mean there wouldn't be any records of me if I visited, either?
[ it's... fascinating, sure, but also kind of sad. does that mean no one would remember, after they left?
please though that would be so funny. ]
I trust you. And hey, you'd have all your godly powers and stuff, too, right? No more limits on what you can do to find the answers you need.
You'd be classified as a Descender, I think - someone not of our world. So Irminsul wouldn't keep records on you, but that doesn't mean the people wouldn't. The Traveler is famous througout Teyvat already, even though they haven't visited all seven nations yet.
I might not be explaining it very well...
[jesus imagine if everyone just gets totally memlossed once the game is over that would be so funny]
Yes! So I'll be able to figure out a lot much more quickly than I've been able to here. Maybe I'll even be able to come see you! ...although, I'm not sure if a god is supposed to be able to leave Teyvat... then again, umm, I guess if that's a "rule" I've already broken it by being here...
That sounds so... dramatic. I feel like it would be weird to be famous for something like that instead of... you know. My music.
[ memlossed until crau can fix it... lmao. ]
It's not like you'd be leaving for long, if you came to visit me... Definitely not two months or more. [ ...and as he realizes that this may sound a little weird, he adds, ] Not that I'd mind you staying longer, but I understand you've got a lot of responsibilities to focus on. But I think even a god could probably use a vacation now and then?
Mm. Now that I'm thinking about it, a lot of the things that we think of as normal in Teyvat are a little dramatic.
[because you're from a gacha rpg, nahida!!!]
But I bet you'd be very famous for your music. ...oh, actually! I heard there's a girl from Liyue who has been trying to popularize music that's similar to yours. You two would probably perform well together if you met.
[kazuki and xinyan would be such cute cr now that i'm thinking about it]
Mm... if I went on a vacation for two months or so, my assistant would be very unhappy with me. So would the rest of my people, but... him especially. [me just imagining scara and alhaitham losing their minds for two months during this mg tbh] But I feel like we all deserve a vacation after what we're going through here.
[ this makes him laugh a bit because it just seems so silly? gachas, man. ]
Ehhhh... Then I'd like to meet her, too. Most of the music you guys have is more traditional, right? I can imagine it'd be hard to get people to adjust to something like rock music from that. It'd be fun to talk music with someone from a different world, too - get their perspective on it.
[ i'm begging someone for xinyan and kazuki cr... throw in luka and serval while we're at it and just imagine how well they'd all get on. ]
I didn't know gods had assistants. [ he says that but he thinks it's a good thing, actually? no one should be entirely on their own, even gods. ] But yeah, we definitely do. None of us asked to be here, and then it was just terrible for two months straight? And we're expected to just go back to normal after this, like it didn't happen at all? It's insane.
Mhm. It's especially so in Liyue, actually, but I heard there was an event recently that she got to perform at, so maybe it's becoming more widespread. But I bet the two of you would have a lot of things to talk about !
[noooooooooo that would be so cute. we know what we must do once someone finally plays xinyan. who? i have no idea but i'm choosing to believe someone will.]
Hehe. Some of them don't, but... it just worked out that way. [she smiles] ...it would be incredibly difficult to go back and act like everything was normal.
If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would it be?

There's a merchant in Port Ormos who makes carvings of them. They've gotten very popular.
