...when things grow, they... accumulate energy. The same holds true for people, and for gods. If you reverse the process of that growth, you can unleash a great amount of energy all at once.
[she looks down.]
There was a time when I needed to use more power than I actually had. So - I reversed my own growth, so that I could use power beyond my own limits.
I wouldn't have. But even if I would, it wouldn't have been enough.
[she shrugs.]
In Teyvat, there's something that we refer to as "Forbidden Knowledge" - knowledge that doesn't naturally exist in this world, and shouldn't. Where it takes root, it corrupts everything around it. It was the source of many terrible diseases and drove many people mad. It took root in the desert region, and... I couldn't just turn a blind eye to it.
My power was enough to keep it at bay, but not to eradicate it entirely... it had corrupted Irminsul, too. I was able to deal with that more recently, though.
[hmm, he remembers when she mentioned Irminsul before,,]
I understand having to take care of what's under your domain. [so like taking care of a tree that the entire world apparently depends on? sure, since she's the guardian] But if it can corrupt anything just by touching it, then why didn't the other Archons help you?
is actually a very good question. nahida starts to answer him, but then pauses, thinks about it, and starts to answer him again before cutting herself off and shaking her head.]
[VENTI STOP BEING A BARD AND HELP OUT FOR ONCE IN UR LIFE
Rang's eyebrows go up at this, he is emulating the essence of a standing man emoji. Hello?]
I thought this before, but the division of labor you Archons have is totally unequal. You had to give up your power and reduce your form to save the world. You should demand proper recompense from each of them.

The others recognized them well enough, but they were confused by you.
[which makes sense, he supposes -- because why would they think that Nahida was once big, instead of even smaller?]
...Why did you take this form? What happened in your 'future'?
[or 'past'?]

and then pauses.]
...you have to promise not to laugh at me for it.

his lip twitches but he tries to keep his expression under control,]
I won't laugh even if it's hilarious.

...Couldn't you have taken power from anywhere else? Like undo a forest? No --
[he pauses, mouth pressing into a thin smile,]
I guess you wouldn't have.

[but she
doesn't know what they are
and she knows everything because of her connection to irminsul.]

[NAHIDA!!!]
What's their excuse?

[...]
Although, part of that may have been because I wasn't... [she hesitates] ...going out very much.
no subject
How much is 'very much'? [NEVER?] Were you restricted to your nation?

[she smiles.]
It's not the case anymore. Now, I could travel if I wanted to, but... there's a lot of work I'm meant to be doing in Sumeru. Maybe in the future.
