In the past, I never got so close to many of them personally. Being around all of you like this is... something of a new experience. I was getting used to it before all of this, but I'm still adjusting to having so many people close at hand.

Did you totally keep to yourself? Or were you just with other, like... Immortals?

I was mostly by myself... Archons usually stay within their respective nations. It's been quite a long time since I last saw any of the rest of the Seven.

Huh... And there are only seven...?

...there are other gods, but they aren't Archons. And there were more of them before the Archon War two thousand years ago.

What was that? Like, was it just over... land? Like most stupid wars?

...it's a long and complicated story. I don't remember it firsthand, though. I lost my memory about five hundred years ago.

...it's alright. I still have five hundred years worth of memories, and that's much more than most.

I feel like my head would explode trying to hold onto that much.

It's a lot easier than it sounds...

There are other Archons who are even older than me who haven't lost their memories. I wonder how they keep everything straight.

...there aren't a lot of people in Sumeru who are comfortable enough with me to talk to me like a friend. So... I've been really happy that people have been doing it here.

Guess you just needed a bunch of people who don't know better. Or—people who caaaan't quite wrap their head around the concept to begin with.

It's a little hard for me to wrap my head around the concept of a world without gods who interact directly with the world, but...

I suppose that's because I've always lived in a world where we do. So, it makes sense that it would be hard for someone who grew up without having proof of a god's existence to accept it at face value when someone says, "I'm a god."

Yeah. I believe it in the sense that I trust that's how things work in your world... But I don't know that mine even has gods. Or a God. Or anything.

If there isn't a god, what shaped your world?

We don't really know. Some people think it was a god. Or some people think it was just kind of—everything bursting into existence and slowly turning into what we know, naturally over time.
