[she is also wandering around the museum, looking delighted... when her path crosses with d's, she comes to look at the informational plaque near the fossil and hums to herself.]
I see... so it was one of the largest known insects to have ever lived. [she examines the fossil next.] It is pretty big... it looks bigger than crystalflies.
[He nods in acknowledgment, gazing upon this giant dragonfly as if it's a royal gem.]
People from my time call them dragonflies; they're much smaller. Though I think they were once called Devil's Fly, but it was mistranslated to dragon because the words were similar. [He glances at her.] Crystalflies?
Huh... [nahida ponders the fossil and wonders how much smaller dragonflies actually are now. me googling to see if genshin has dragonflies bc they do have butterflies and it doesn't? look like they do? but i found a fanon wiki that says there are dragonflies from fontaine that smell like lemons and now i'm like "how do you guys come up with this stuff"] Is there a reason they're so much smaller now?
[probably the big ones were too easy to see and smack out of the sky when people got scared...]
They're elemental life-forms. They look almost like butterflies, but their wings are shaped differently, and they tend to be colored depending on which sources of elemental energy they form near. They're usually found near Statues of the Seven, where there's a high concentration of elemental power...
The ones you find in Sumeru have bright green wings, with darker green markings and orange tips. Their cores look almost like emeralds, but brighter. Hmm... maybe more like peridots?
Ah, I see. [Sorry to Nahida, but now he's super invested in what she's saying. He looks very enraptured at the literal everything of the crystalflies...] They sound amazing. And very beautiful too.
Hehe... they're very beautiful! It can be very relaxing to sit near where they tend to congregate and watch them flutter about.
[she smiles, thinking of it.]
I don't think they would have live crystalflies in a museum, and I'm not sure if they'd have anything from Sumeru... [she has not encountered anything that looks like it might be from her world yet.] ...but, if I see anything that looks like one, I'll be sure to show you so you can get an idea of it!
[He also smiles at this image!! The way he looks now... the genuine fondness on his face, it's sort of easy to recognize the fact most of the other smiles and laughter might not be authentic...?
They don't look like this, that's for sure.]
Oh, I would like that very much, thank you. [He glances at the fossil again thoughtfully.] If it isn't too forward, may I ask... what you are?
You can ask. I welcome all questions, no matter how forward they are or aren't.
[but as for how to answer... well, she sort of gets the feeling that count d will have an easier time understanding this than the people here who are normies. so, she'll just say it plainly.]
I'm an Archon. In Sumeru, they call me the God of Wisdom.
[His brows rise slightly, but he nods. He doesn't know what an Archon means to her specifically, but he can make an educated guess by the word, by the title added to it.]
I see. It's a pleasure to meet you then. Is this your true form...?
A seed, before it's planted, is a seed. That seed is its true form at the time. But when it grows into a tree, that tree is also that seed's true form.
If something was to reverse the process of its growth, and it became a seed again - well, the form of the seed is still as true as the form of the tree.
[Well, this doesn't really go over his head any thankfully. He nods in acknowledgement.]
I understand. Whatever form you take will be your form. The animals in the pet shop are similar. They are seen how they wish to be seen, and they are seen differently by people with different desires too.
The appearance of his form depends on how others see him, whether their hearts have the ability to do so. [Thoughtful.] Like magic. The willingness to believe.
Ah, we met at a restaurant. He courted me for a while, and then he tried to eat me.
[BEING NERFED IS THE WORST. He understands. Awful.]
Hm? No, it's true. He was a Chinese chef. He was very handsome and talented. He had been looking to create the perfect meal. But he wasn't in a form which suited him; he was trapped in it. I asked him if he wanted to stay in my shop.
He was a serial killer. He had killed several people, and the detective was tracking him down. They found out it was him, so they arrested him. It must have been terrible for him to be trapped in that form having to do those things.
So I asked him to come to my shop, so he wouldn't have to worry about any of that.
I guess that makes sense... they could arrest someone who looked human, but it's not like they're going to put someone who looks more like an animal into jail...
[a beat.]
Did changing his form make it so he didn't want to eat you anymore?

[huh. that's really interesting, actually; nahida looks like she has about a million more questions about that.
she will restrict herself to just one for now.]
Is that the case for T-chan as well? What form does he take for you?
no subject
T-chan is a very handsome totetsu. His paws are so cute. But he has a form not many can see, not even the people here.
A form much like your own. A young man with horns and wild eyes.

[a beat]
The form I can see is also very interesting, though.

[He laughs, quiet.]
It is. I thought he was very magnificent when I first saw him.

[huh...]
How did you two meet?
no subject
Ah, we met at a restaurant. He courted me for a while, and then he tried to eat me.
[WHY DOES HE SAY SO CASUALLY THIS WITH A SMILE.]
no subject
[WHY CAN'T SHE SEE HIS OTHER FORM THEN. god she hates being nerfed
and then she pauses.]
...literally, or is that a figure of speech?

Hm? No, it's true. He was a Chinese chef. He was very handsome and talented. He had been looking to create the perfect meal. But he wasn't in a form which suited him; he was trapped in it. I asked him if he wanted to stay in my shop.

[huh...]
I guess you must have suited his tastes... but then he agreed to stay with you instead of continuing to try to make a meal of you?
no subject
[Why does it not sound like he minds this, please god.]
He was looking for the flesh of a vegetarian. [Tapping his chin in thought.] Ah, yes. He was being arrested, so I asked him.
[THIS JUST RAISES MORE QUESTIONS.]

A bit. We treat each other with respect. And he simply got fed when he came to the shop. He didn't have to go out and kill to get food like before.
no subject
[she's assuming it's not People since that would end in d getting arrested? maybe? if he was feeding him people at the shop???]
