A gnosis is... you can think of it as a representation of a god's power. It's not the source of their power, exactly, but it's something that can resonate with the heavens. Have you heard much about Visions? They're sort of like a more advanced version of those.

As for why... [...] ...the Sages wanted to replace me.
Yeah, Shenhe...sort of told me a little about Visions. Not in detail or anything, just what they can do. But that makes sense. It'd have to be more advanced in order to be in a god's hands.

Replace you? [ he does remember kaveh saying nahida suffered a lot of injustices and that the removal of the sages meant she could regain her rightful place, but he hadn't heard more than that. ] Why?

[the first part is... kind of fun, actually. sure, the cave is a little bit creepy, but it is beautiful. and the banter between friends... that warms nahida's heart.
but it all goes very weird, very fast. when they come out of it, she blinks rapidly, trying to process it all.]
Ghosts are generally pretty creepy and rude as far as I can tell. I mean this was the first time I'd ever really met them, but they left an impression.
Uh. No, we...we just wouldn't have existed anymore, I guess. You could say it was like they were trying to eat our souls in order to make room for themselves.
[hmm. unfortunately, this is not the first time she's seen a smile that doesn't reach someone's eyes. she'd seen it quite often with the sages, in fact, so that... leaves her more than a little unsettled.]
[i, britt, do not believe him. nahida is also a little doubtful just because everyone's luck has been absolutely abysmal to die and end up in the reaper's game, but she doesn't want to be a pessimist, so she nods.]
