Hm..... take our egg custards for one. There is much more emphasis on the flavor of the egg than adding heavy sugar to the mixture for extra sweetness. Or, the red bean for another. One can make anything from buns to drinks to ice creams and yet there is still a prominent flavor difference. Green tea is another popular choice, sometimes left bitter for accompanying with tea.
