[ he is getting the sense the akademiya is full of nerds. so he just nods to that. ]
There's a lot of famous ones where I'm from. Not that I've gone to them or anything but people from all over the world go to visit them and see what's there. I guess there's something about having history in front of you that people like seeing.
There's a museum on the east coast you'd probably love. [ nahida does not know where that is, but he continues. ] I've never been, but I've read about it online. It's a big area with like twenty different buildings full of stuff like this on all kinds of subjects. History, art, space...you could spend a lot of time there and still not see everything.
Uh. [ he did not expect her to turn this around on him what the fuck. ] I'm not really sure? This whole thing is...[ hm. ] I mean we have museums. And I've been to a few, but I never really know what I'm looking for or really looking at.
Well, then... what kinds of things do you like? Other than museums. This place seems to be all about history, but I bet we can find something about the history of one of your interests if we look hard enough.
Good to know scavenger hunts are a multi-world thing. I don't remember the last time I've ever been on one. But maybe that's something we'll end up doing here as a mission someday? What're the chances?
Yeah. Plus if missions are about teamwork, what better way than having teams work together to find stuff? It sounds pretty straightforward. Not a lot of effort on the reapers' part either.
Right. [ ...he will start walking again, assuming nahida will follow. they can explore and talk at least. ] You think every mission's going to involve some level of sabotage?
It wouldn't surprise me... for the most part we all seem to be willing to cooperate with each other, but we keep getting reminders that this is a competition.
Eeeevery day. [ thanks everybody. thanks reapers. thanks brain. ] We keep getting all the messages about how cooperation's not going to work in the longrun, but so far people seem to be ignoring it. I can't tell if it's because they think it'll work differently or what.
I think, deep down... people tend to be optimistic at heart, even when they act like they're not. It's possible that as we get further into this, it will get harder and harder to keep cooperating with each other.
But... it's hard to let go of the hope that we might be able to work together rather than against each other.
It's a really nice way of thinking of it, Nahida. [ he can't say he agrees or disagrees because it's such a weird area right now, but he does think there are plenty of people will hold onto hope until the last minute.
if they live that long.
he kind of hopes they do. ]
I think...right now we're still strangers, in a lot of ways. But I wonder if that will change the longer we're here. We might all be in the same city for so long, but people are going to have different opinions of other people. [ i.e. some people might still be strangers and working together seems impossible. ]
Right... it's not always possible for every person to get along with everyone else.
[nahida, thinking specifically of rang, tbh.]
...how we all interact with each other as time goes on is going to shape how we approach things. And the types of missions we're given, as well as the things we deal with on the weekends... that's going to shape how we interact with each other. There are a lot of variables here.
There's also the fact the reapers have said we can work with other teams on missions to earn points for both sides, but there's no guarantee that's what people will go with. But I kind of wonder if maybe that's what we should do? If the missions aren't the most important part of this game, it doesn't hurt to use them as a chance to work with others to try and make Saturdays easier.
[ and then work together to go after and erase someone else via voting. yeah. ]
That makes sense... personally, I think it'd be good for us to all work together on missions. It will teach us about how we all approach different problems. And on the one hand, it might make people less likely to turn on each other and try to Erase them if they know them well... but on the other, if someone goes and does that anyway, being familiar with how they work may make it easier to connect certain evidence to them later.
The latter is what I think is going to help us a lot. If we know each other well enough, we won't spend hours arguing about if a person would or wouldn't do certain things, or what they're capable of, or what they might have on them.
But yeah. It's also good to see who's like-minded and who can bring new ideas to the table.

It makes it feel a little more real, when you can see it for yourself.

That sounds absolutely wonderful!

It's...good for people who like that stuff. [ hesitantly, because that's not always jonas. but he doesn't really feel like disappointing her either. ]
...wanna keep exploring? We can see what other weird exhibits are on display here.

she does notice his hesitance, and tilts her head to one side, considering... then she smiles.]
Sure. Let's see if we can find an exhibit about something you find interesting. What sorts of things do you want to see?

It probably isn't unlikely. That seems like a very easy sort of activity to assign points for...
