[ the vr establishment seems to be really popular since jonas has been watching people wander in and out all day, but it doesn't deter him. instead, he looks over to where nahida is and offers her a short smile.
it's been...a long couple of days. maybe taking a break isn't so bad. ]
VR? Yeah, a little, but it's not quite as intensive as this. Usually they're preprogrammed for certain things. This seems a little more...open-ended. Which can be a good thing and a bad thing.
I think so. It's not like we're actually going anywhere, so as long as we don't get too immersed into stuff we can figure it out. Do you have something in mind you want to try and see?
I think... this would be a really neat way to see places from other worlds. Do you think you might be able to use it to show me something interesting from your world, Jonas?
Um...I could try, sure. But I'm not really sure what you would find interesting. I haven't gone very many places and everything else I could imagine is just stuff I've seen in books or pictures. I could try though.
I guess that's true. [ but still...he thinks if he's going to show someone his world or the places he's been, it should be something worthwhile. and so he's overthinking it. ] At least an idea, Nahida. Like... "somewhere tropical" or "somewhere important" or anything.
he's going to grab a headset for himself and then one for her to hand off before he gets comfortable and works on slipping his on. ]
Follow me then, I guess.
[ once they sync into this vr, somehow, nahida will see...woods. it's a forested sort of area, a creek running through the center and kind of peaceful...
except it glitches out after a moment like he can't quite concentrate on it and it flickers to a blank empty space. hm. uh. ]
[she'd asked him for somewhere he likes, so - she'll do the same. she focuses for a few moments, and the scenery around them shifts to that of the grand bazaar... minus the people.]
It's...a bunch of people like artists, right? So they create their own stuff. It's no wonder they're supportive. It's a rough gig. [ but he does wander ahead, already heading toward the fountain because it's there. ] This place must get pretty crowded in Sumeru itself.
[ even if it's empty, it's very obvious he's interested in the surroundings. ]
...we have something kind of similar where I'm from. Farmer's markets. They're usually way smaller and it's just everybody with their own produce they've grown and stuff they've made haggling with each other for prices that aren't even always fair. But everybody has to make a living.
It doesn't really feel the same either. This sounds more like a spot where anyone can show up just because instead of somewhere to get in and out and carry on with your business.
It's its own little community here. Many of the people who set up their stalls are here to make a living, but... this is also where they come to see their friends and family and spend time with them.
So maybe it is a little different. I'd be interested to see a farmer's market, though... we have farms, but most places do sell their own produce by default, so it doesn't sound quite the same as what you're describing. Yours sounds almost more like a special occasion?
A social event more than just business. I can see why this place draws a crowd. [ but he nods a little to that. ] I wouldn't say ours are special occasions so much as they're dedicated hours and spaces for anyone who wants to take a shot at it. But they aren't bad? Not really my thing, but I've been to a few a few times. Nothing nearly as elaborate as this.
If you wouldn't mind. I've been pretty curious since I've heard about it from you and Kaveh. And it's obviously important to both of you, so...yes. I want to see what makes it what it is.
[DON'T TAG ME RIGHT BEFORE TRIAL BREAK ENDS AAAAAAAAA
anyway, she focuses, and next - they find themselves outdoors in sumeru city! specifically, near the adventurer's guild. you know what it looks like so i'm not going to link you a video.]
[ comes back to this but we can just handwave the rest if you want britt idk how busy you feel. anyway again, he is appropriately impressed and it shows. ]
There are...a lot of hills. And plants. Is the entire nation of Sumeru just islands and stuff?
w3 monday

Well...what do you think? Worth a try?

It might be interesting... I can't help but be curious about how it works. Do they have anything like this where you're from, Jonas?

nahida is just about to comment on how nice the woods when the space around them flickers into nothingness.]
...is the equipment malfunctioning?
no subject
No, I don't think that's it. But maybe you should try to send us somewhere? Just to check.
[ the equipment is 100% fine, it's jonas not being able to settle on somewhere like she's asking for. ]

...wow. [ it's open? but enclosed? and there are lights and stalls and it's a little area that still feels homey all the same. ] So where are we?
[ he says, ignoring his own failure to be more invested in this. he'll try again later. ]

[she smiles, gesturing up toward the area with the stage and the fountain.]
The people who spend most of their time here are very warmhearted. There's always a lively, supportive sort of atmosphere.

Yes, it's usually full of people coming and going, here.
