[alas, they do not have housing yet, but... nahida still needs to sleep. and so does kaveh, but hE WON'T, APPARENTLY. she wakes up wherever she was sleeping (i was joking about it but honestly she probably did fall asleep in a tree) and goes to find him, hiding a yawn behind her hand.]

Good morning, Kaveh...

[LOOK... LISTEN... he won't, but that's par for the course for him, okay!! Geniuses need their... sleep deprivation to function? Yeah sure.

He's definitely nearby, though; he's got a McCafe latte that he's sipping on as he studies the map he's been drawing of the area. He's probably sitting in that awkward gay artist shrimp position. It's fine. He tears his attention away from his work as she approaches, though, and sits up to greet her.]

Good morning. Do you feel alright? Any different? [He can't imagine why she would, if they're still stuck here, but it's good to know anyway.]

waking up to the erasure of their teammate really sucks. nahida is upset and frustrated - that she was right there with him in the mcdonald's with him that night and couldn't do anything to stop it, that someone actually jumped straight to erasure right away - but she knows that kaveh is probably hurting, too.

so she pulls herself together and goes to find him once they're done wandering around in that post-investigation state of disorientation.]

...Kaveh?

[The way I misread the investigation post and fucked up my starter to becks so now I just have to say Kaveh slept through the alarm until after Shu and Rin left. Help. It's fine.

ANYWAY. His first priority, of course, would've been making sure Nahida is okay; with that done, he left to check on everyone else he'd worried about, frantic with the scars of old losses and a lack of knowledge. By the time she finds him again, back at the warehouse, that energy has burned up, leaving only the crushing weight of guilt and helplessness behind.

Another person he couldn't save. More people worrying about him, because he's never been truly able to get a grip on himself.

(And what if this was his fault? What if Hikari was targeted because of his outburst? And isn't that just the most selfish thing to think?)

He looks up as she approaches where he's sitting at one of the tables, a half-empty cup of coffee in front of him. Mehrak is by his feet, but it's off. He's almost relieved by her presence; it gives him something to focus on besides the black spiral of his own misery.]

Nahida. [His voice is soft, gentle.] Did you find anything?

[SOMETIMES YOUR TEAMMATE GETS MURDERED... and then you two are the ones who catch the killer... and you just get so tired at the immediate start of a murdergame. My god (not Nahida).

Anyway, he left Mcdonald's pretty quickly, but not to hole up in misery again like yesterday. Nahida can find him at the park, sitting on one of the swings and looking up at the stars, though he does, of course, redirect his attention when he spots her.]

How are you feeling, after all of that?

...like there's still a lot I don't understand.

[she takes a seat on one of the swings next to him.]

[they are shopping!! i still don't know what clothes i want to have her buy, help. but she's looking at some of the pieces of clothing with curiosity.]

These are very different from what I've seen at the shops in Sumeru City...

But he is browsing!! He's got a few options for himself tossed over his arm because he hasn't discovered the laundromat yet. Actually he doesn't know what a washing machine is anyway. Help. He also doesn't know that half of these are tourist-y costumes?? We're doing great.]

I think it would depend on the design. If you combine novelty with aesthetics, it's sure to be very popular.

week 1, friday

[what a fucking terrible week.

nahida, upon snapping out of the post-curfew stupor and being able to go forth and pc, goes looking for kaveh immediately because he appears to have wandered off somewhere and she's sure he's going to be very distressed by the news about rin.

when she finds him:]

Kaveh...?

[Maybe he wandered off because he wants to never acknowledge anything he said yesterday ever again... maybe that's why he went on investigation...

She's right, though; it does hit hard. He won't be difficult to find; after he's done checking on Haru, he comes right back to the warehouse, where he's curled up with a second notebook. This one has this cover.

He puts it down, though, as soon as he sees her; not hiding it or anything, just to turn his attention to her.]

Nahida.

week 1, sunday

[Kaveh will be easy to find, at least--he's in the warehouse with a cup of coffee whenever she comes back, sketching in his notebook. He glances up when he sees her, looking her over to gauge how she's doing.]

[she nods.

she's pretty quiet, but - she's not in tears, at least? so you know, there's that.]

...it's over. Count D was erased.

week 2, Friday

[Okay, well. Since they were both in the library, Kaveh is probably just. Sitting and staring numbly at the message. This is such a terrible starter I'm sorry he's just shocked and devastated]

she's staring at her phone with horror... and then dread creeps in as she remembers matsui doing his thing in the cyoa.]

they caught the culprit! nahida doesn't feel happy about it, though. she just feels tired.

once the trial is over, she reaches for kaveh's hand and looks up at him with concern. vibe check. how are you feeling, buddy.]

[That's a mood. Honestly, Kaveh's in about the same state as her--still feeling so terribly sad and guilty, but mostly just... exhausted.

He was wrong, last week. But being right isn't any better.

He'll take her hand, though, squeezing it lightly.]

[well, after coming out of the post-curfew haze and realizing that neither kaveh nor shu is still in the movie theater with her - and after seeing the body announcement - she figures she should probably go find kaveh, because the chances of him having found something horrific are high.

where is he. what's the status of sumeru's #1 babygirl.]

[well, that was a mess.

after the trial, nahida can be found back in the warehouse, looking at her phone. she looks like she's typing something, stopping, erasing it, and starting again...

[That's so valid. At some point Kaveh got up and then came back with four bottles of wine; one of them is open and he's just. Drinking from a Mcdonald's cup because he hasn't stolen any actual mugs.]

[Eventually, probably after they've talked to Shu, Kaveh and Nahida are here in the warehouse together. Kaveh looks down at his hands.]

...Do you think they acted again?

...for what it's worth, Gerard sent me a message and said they didn't kill four people.

But I notice he didn't say they didn't kill anyone. [she sighs.] Ylfa asked me to heal her injuries from her adventure yesterday. The ones she showed me to heal were about the same as they were before - they looked a little bit better, but that could have been because she got washed up and had some time to rest.

Week 4, Saturday

[I am going to assume that OOCly we probably cannot do this for fairness reasons but Kaveh would ask her ICly so--]

...I'm sure they've - probably figured out, already, that they were likely in the lead. [after... nahri's outburst about them lying last week, too.] I'm going to be talking to Netzach later, so... I'll see if he brings it up. We can evaluate from there, and see what the three of them think, too. Does that seem fair?

[i'm assuming they're at the library to do research. nahida stands in front of one of the bookshelves, her hands on her hips as she stares up at the ones that are out of reach and plots the best path to climb up the shelves to grab them.

(just ask kaveh to grab them for you, nahida.)]

He's sitting at a table not far away with one hand on his head and the other writing notes in his notebook, muttering math things to himself. Surely Nahida is just reading nearby!]

[it's late.

nahida looks - well, honestly, she looks very tired. but kaveh may notice that each time she seems close to drifting off to sleep, she forces herself to sit up right and pats her cheeks, like she's trying to stay awake.]

[Well, presuming she continued to refuse him, he's just sitting here miserably. He's finally stopped crying, at least for a little while, but he doesn't look anywhere near sleep.

"Upset" doesn't even begin to describe how he's feeling--but he doesn't want what might be their last hours together to end on an ugly note. So, softly--]

...You should rest.

[wherever kaveh happens to be when he next focuses and opens up his senses - nahida flickers into view there, smiling.]

[Kaveh looks a little startled, like he wasn't sure it would actually work--but then his shoulders drop, and he smiles a little, relieved.]

We're working on a solution on our end. I can't say I expected time travel to be a part of all of this, but at least knowing we have one chance to reset if something goes wrong means we have a little bit of wiggle room.
